What Makes The High School English Teachers Lounge Unlike Anything Else Online?

I've tried many things to stay afloat as a high school English teacher.

I bought TPT lessons — $5 here, $12 there — only to realize they saved me 15 minutes, not 15 hours, and I was still up at 11:52 planning for my Romeo and Juliet unit that was starting tomorrow.

I sat through district PD that had nothing to do with English, let alone actual classroom teaching.

And I joined Facebook teacher groups that turned into venting circles—no solutions, no real support, just noise.

It was all scattered. None of it worked together. And I kept asking myself:

“Why isn’t there one place where I can get the tools, the training, and the community I need — without burning out or going broke?”

That question is what led me to create the High School English Teachers Lounge.

This isn’t just another set of worksheets you download, lose, and forget about.

It’s not another 2-hour “PD” where you leave more confused than when you joined.

And it’s definitely not another Facebook group filled with burned-out teachers trading war stories.

This is the one place built for teachers who still give a damn.

For the ones grading essays between diaper changes.

For the ones on their third morning coffee.

For the ones still giving their best—despite everything.

Inside the Lounge, you get:

✅ Time-saving tools built for English classrooms

✅ Professional development that actually makes you better — not busier

✅ A growing community of teachers who care, share, and show up

You deserve more — and that’s what we’re building here.

Most teachers have to piece things together — a PD course here, a resource bundle there, and a lonely Facebook group in between.

You shouldn’t need to spend $1,000 on an AQ.

That’s expensive, exhausting, and let’s be honest... it doesn’t work.

The High School English Teachers Lounge is different.

It’s the only membership that combines time-saving tools, real community, and meaningful PD—all in one place.

No fluff. No filler. Just what you actually need to teach better, live better, and stay in the profession you love.

My Story (and Maybe Yours Too!)

👋 Hey, I’m John.

And I’ve been teaching high school English for nearly 17 years—through the grind, the late-night marking, the disillusionment… and the all-too-frequent “Am I seriously still doing this?” moments.

I started fired up—ready to change lives through books and meaningful conversation.

But reality hit:
✏️ Constant marking during every spare moment
📱 Students more interested in TikTok than their own futures
😓 Staff rooms full of teachers just counting down to retirement

And that quiet, sinking feeling that no one really understands how hard this job is.

Still, I kept showing up—for the students (most of them—I'm no saint 😅) and for that spark that got me into this career in the first place (and hasn’t quite gone out).

Over the years, I tried all the hacks and shortcuts to make teaching sustainable without becoming one of those teachers who stop caring.

Eventually, I built systems that save me 20+ hours a month on planning and grading.

My lessons started to land more often. (Okay… most days. If I’m being honest.)

And now, I’m creating something bigger:

A space where high school English teachers support each other, grow together, and remember why we got into this in the first place.

👉 Because here’s the truth:

You don’t have to sacrifice your time, your energy, or your family to be a great teacher.

That’s the lie too many of us have accepted.

I’m here to prove there’s another way.

❓ But what about you?

You’re not just reading this to hear my story. You’re wondering:

“Will this actually help me?”

Yes. Because you're exactly who the High School English Teachers Lounge is built for.

This isn’t just another resource hub. It’s a living, breathing space—and you have the chance to be a Founding Member and help shape it from the start.

Inside, we’re building something to support the three things every great English teacher needs:

🕒 Time: Unit plans, feedback templates, AI assessment tools, and grading shortcuts that save you 20–25 hours a month.

👥 Community: A real network of English teachers who care—about students, about the work, and about each other.

🎓 Growth: Relevant, inspiring PD that makes you better—not just busier.

Your voice, experience, and feedback will help shape the content, the tools, and the community itself.

This is where real English teachers recharge, reconnect, and reignite their purpose—together.

So if you’re tired of doing it alone… if you’re ready to make teaching feel meaningful again…👇

I hope you’ll join us inside.

Who Is This Membership For?

You still care—even when it’s hard: You show up even on the tough days, because you believe in stories, in growth, and in the impact English teachers can have.

You’re tired of doing it all alone: You’re ready for tools that save you real time and a community that actually understands what you’re going through—without judgment.

You want to grow, not be perfect: You believe in getting better at your craft, engaging your students, and having energy left over for the people and things you love.

Who Is This Membership Is NOT For?

You’re just looking for a worksheet dump: If you want a giant folder of one-off PDFs and nothing else—this isn’t that.

You’ve mentally checked out of teaching: If you're only here for the paycheck and have no interest in improving, connecting, or finding meaning—this community won’t feel right.

You’re not open to change: If you’re unwilling to reflect, evolve, or try new approaches, this probably isn’t your space.
